WET FELT VESSEL WORKSHOP COMING TO PRICE CENTER MAY 26

Local artisan and educator Marti Swanson will be teaching a Wet Felt Vessel class for beginners at the Price Center on Wed., May 26 from 1 – 3 p.m. This introduction to wet felting workshop will teach the basics of wet felting on a resist, layout of wool, embellishments, and more to create a unique piece of art. The class marks the return of creative workshops to the Center since the COVID crisis began.

Wet felting is a hands-on process that involves the wetting and agitation of wool fibers to create a piece of fabric. Wet felting on a resist allows for making 3-D sculptural pieces.

“It takes a bit of effort, but the results are always stunning,” said Swanson, who has two works on display in the current art show at the Price Center and additional works on display at the San Marcos Art Center.

Swanson has been teaching felting arts since 2017. She is a member of the Fiber Artist of San Antonio and currently serves as a Board Member of the Seguin Art League. You can learn more about her and see other examples of her work @ martiswansonartisan.com.

Cost for the 3-hour class is $75.00 and includes all materials*. Participants will leave the class with a completed work of art. Pre-registration is required and class is limited to 10 participants. To register, email martiswanson.artisan@gmail.com, click on the Facebook event on her page, or message her via Facebook @Marti Swanson Artisan.
