NEW PRICE CENTER CALL FOR ART SEEKS WORKS REPRESENTING THE MEANING OF HOME
The new year will begin with a new Call for Art from the Price Center’s Arts Committee seeking works representing what home means to you. The community call is for a companion show to the upcoming The Art of Bill Hutson: In 3D exhibit coming to the Center as part of a five-gallery collaboration featuring different components of his work. Home and The Art of Bill Hutson: In 3D will hang throughout the first-floor galleries of the Center Jan. 15 – Feb. 26, 2022.
Home is open to all area artists and all media are welcome. Interested artists may drop off one work of art at the Price Center on Tues., Jan. 11 and Wed., Jan. 12 between 10 am and 5 p.m. A $10 application fee applies, and the Price Center retains a 20% commission on any works sold.
The Art of Bill Hutson features five separate and overlapping gallery shows honoring Hutson, born in 1936 and raised in the Dunbar neighborhood of San Marcos, Texas, who later became one of the most innovative artists of his generation. Participating San Marcos galleries in addition to the Price Center are: The Calaboose African American History Museum, The San Marcos Art Center, Texas State Galleries, and The Walkers' Gallery @ the San Marcos Public Library.
