ED ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT PLANS AT PRICE CENTER ANNUAL MEETING & ELECTION OF OFFICERS
A large crowd of dues-paying members and guests gathered this past Thursday night at the annual meeting for the downtown non-profit community center and venue. The annual election of officers followed brief annual reports from current board chair Joan Nagel, treasurer Mark Piersol, and executive director Clay DeStefano, who concluded his remarks by announcing his plans to retire at the end of 2024.
“It has been my honor and privilege to be the caretaker of this 131-year-old community treasure,” said DeStefano, who celebrated his ninth anniversary with the Center on May 1. “I offer my sincere thanks and gratitude to all the folks who help make things happen here. From our board members to our arts committee to our many other volunteers, to our paid staff, our loyal and engaged members, and our participating artists and performers. . . I would not have made it through the past nine years without you,” he added.

2023 was a year of continued growth and progress for the unique Center. Engagement and new events -- including the birth of Joydance gatherings, the monthly First Tuesday SMTX Film Series, and our 1893 Flea -- grew across the boards. The year concluded by having our Roberto Rios Mind Windows exhibit named one of the 10 best art exhibits in Texas by Glasstire Magazine and being named the Best of Hays Winner: for Community Center/Social Venue & Art Gallery/exhibit!
