Along Came Kinky Featured Aug. 6

Join FIRST TUESDAY SMTX This Tuesday, August 6th for ALONG CAME KINKY. . . TEXAS JEWBOY FOR GOVERNOR Featuring Kinky Friedman, Jesse Ventura, Rick Perry, Wille Nelson & More

The feature chronicles singing Jewish cowboy Kinky Friedman’s 2006 independent gubernatorial campaign in Texas. See the outspoken Kinky and his army of grassroots volunteers combat voter apathy in the Lone Star State while his campaign staff strategizes for an unprecedented four-way race, raising awareness and money for their unlikely but incredibly sharp candidate. A tribute to the irreverent, cigar-wielding Friedman who passed away on June 27th. Complimentary Refreshments from the great folks at Pie Society & Middleton Brewing from 6:30 pm Film Starts at 7 pm.

BALLET Beauties Weekly Dance Class Returns Aug. 6

Attention potential dancers and ballet enthusiasts, Ballet Beauties is back from its summer hiatus. Classes will resume on Tues., Aug. 6 from 10:30 till noon. This is a beginner class for adults of all ages and experiences. If you are looking for a fun exercise class to improve balance, strength, and flexibility while moving to lovely music and learning the beautiful art form of ballet, this class is for you. 1893 Flea Returns Saturday, Aug. 10

Our indoor 1893 Flea returns next weekend with over 2-dozen vendors located throughout the first floor of the Center. Limited space is still available. Call 512-618-2071 to reserve a space. 



Next CALL FOR ART Seeking Art Inspired By A Song

The Price Center Arts Committee is seeking art submissions for their next gallery exhibit titled A Song in My Heart. The show is open to all creators in the area and should feature a work inspired by a song title, lyric, or even its performer(s). Art will be accepted during the Call for Art at the Price Center on Tues., and Wed., Aug. 27 & 28 from 10 – 5 p.m.

 

Broke Thespians Return to Center with First-Ever 24-hour Play Festival, Aug. 16 & 17

Are you ready for a day of creativity, collaboration, and excitement? We invite you to participate in our very first 24-Hour Play Festival, hosted at the Price Center! This exciting event brings together playwrights, directors, actors, and crew members to create and perform original short plays within just 24 hours.Whether you're a seasoned theater professional or a passionate newcomer, this is your chance to showcase your talents and be part of a dynamic, fast-paced, and extremely fun theatrical experience. We are seeking up to 4 playwrights, 4 directors, and an unlimited number of actors and crew members to join us for this unforgettable event.

 Third Annual VARIETY SHOW AUDITIONS Set

For the third year in a row, Anna Broome and her talented group of volunteers are bringing the San Marcos Variety Show back to the Price Center. Auditions for this year’s event will be held on Wed., Aug. 28 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 31 from 10 a.m. to noon. The crowd-pleasing showcase, which serves as an annual fundraiser for the Center, will be held on Thurs. Sept. 19.  The family-friendly night features a variety of performers, concessions, and chances to win specially curated gift baskets via raffle tickets.  


 

Submit Your Proposal to Transform New PICNIC Tables by Aug. 31

The Price Center Arts Committee has also issued a Request For Proposals to transform two new 8’ picnic tables they have installed in the front garden. They are offering a total of $1,300 to the chosen artist(s) which includes a $500 artist’s award and a $150 materials budget per table. The benches have been primed and the Center will apply a final seal coat. Proposals are due by Aug. 31 and may be submitted to info@price-center.org
