An interactive group yoga session/demonstration will follow at 1 and a group sing-along featuring popular and familiar holiday songs will begin at 1:30 in the 1910 room. In addition, an art show titled “Peace & Understanding,” featuring more than 60 artworks hangs throughout the Center and a new interactive art installation of peace flags offer a different twist on the concept of Peace on earth this season. For the traditionalist, an over-the-top display of multiple Christmas trees, holiday swags and florals, a collection of Nativities from the private collections of Center staff, and unique handmade décor are sure to please all who take it in. Plenty of perfect selfie photo-ops exist throughout!
San Mercado takes place in the garden and throughout the various indoor venues of the Price Center. December’s Market will feature an eclectic mix of local vendors – new and returning – slated to be selling everything from fresh pies to plants, handmade goods, original art, collectibles, and unique holiday and gift items, as well as small retail products, including jewelry, make-up, and housewares.
Admission to San Mercado is free and open to all. New Vendors are always welcome. Indoor Booths are $30; Outdoor are $20. The monthly market is made possible in part through grant funds from the San Marcos Arts Commission. Proceeds from booth rentals benefit the Price Center, which is operated by the Greater San Marcos Area Seniors Association (GSMASA), a 501 (c) 3 non-profit.
San Mercado is part of a standing line-up of activities taking place downtown on the second Saturday of each month as part of the Downtown Walkabout, including Farmer’s Market, Art Squared and special activities in downtown galleries, merchants and eateries.
